John Bergquist earned his J. D. from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1992.  While in law  school, he was a member of the Henry Upson Sims Moot Court Board, and successfully wrote and was accepted for membership to both the Trial Advocacy Board and Cumberland Law Review. He graduated as Executive Editor of the Cumberland Law Review.

Mr. Bergquist was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1992, and shortly thereafter to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U. S. District Courts of the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama. He joined the firm in 1992 and has worked as a civil trial attorney for Parsons, Lee & Juliano, P.C.  He became a shareholder of the firm in 2002. He was admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States in 2007.

Mr. Bergquist is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the American Bar Association, the Birmingham Bar Association, the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, and the Defense Research Institute.

Mr. Bergquist has completed numerous jury trials and arbitrations to conclusion at all levels of court in both State and Federal courts. He has presented oral arguments on behalf of his clients before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the Alabama Supreme Court. During the last ten years, he has successfully handled over 100 construction defect cases in both commercial and residential structures. He has defended state-wide and nation-wide class actions.  He has assisted in settlement of more than 150 other matters as part of a nationwide class settlement. He has defended many product liability suits involving subjects from complex industrial equipment to consumer appliances. In addition he has successfully used mediation to obtain favorable settlements in more than 100 cases.

In recognition of his civil trial accomplishments, Mr. Bergquist has been peer review rated through Martindale-Hubbell.  Mr. Bergquist’s primary areas of practice include general insurance defense litigation, construction defect litigation, product liability litigation, tractor-trailer and other motor vehicle litigation, personal injury litigation, premises liability, worker’s compensation and appellate work.
